Braided Beauty of the Afterlife: Meet the 3,000-Year-Old Mummy with Perfect Plaits!
Frozen in time for over 3,000 years, this young Egyptian woman from the New Kingdom period (c.1550–1069 BCE) continues to captivate the world — not for her status, but for the remarkable preservation of her braided hair.
Still neatly plaited, her hairstyle is a hauntingly human reminder of a life once lived.
Standing only 4 feet 10 inches tall, CT scans reveal she had a slight spinal curvature and organs like the liver and brain still intact — a sign of lower-status mummification, where full embalming was skipped.
Though her name is lost to history, her story whispers from within her wrappings.
Unlike royal tombs filled with gold, she rests modestly — but beautifully preserved — in the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita, Kansas.
Who was she?
A daughter, a sister, a dreamer?
Her perfect braids hint at a life once cared for … Now eternally remembered.
