Cairo is a bustling metropolis,
harmoniously blending traces of the oldest civilization with the achievements of modern culture.
Cairo is the center of Egyptian art, a city with over a thousand minarets and museums full of ancient artifacts.
It is considered one of the most impressive and unforgettable places in the world.
It is the largest city in the African continent, situated on both sides of one of the world’s longest rivers – the Nile.
This 25-million-strong metropolis, with its intriguing and diverse architecture, is known as the ‘City of a Thousand Minarets‘.
One of Cairo’s most interesting places is the Egyptian Museum, where artifacts uncovered during archaeological excavations are displayed.
These include treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, mummies from the time of the Pharaohs, and artifacts dating back over 5,000 years.
Every year, millions of tourists visit Cairo and Giza to see the pyramids of Cheops, Chefren, Mykerinos, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Sphinx.
The first stop on the tour will be the Egyptian Museum, located in the heart of Cairo, near the famous Tahrir Square.
In the museum, we can see artifacts from ancient Egypt spanning 6,000 years.
There are over 160,000 masterpieces exhibited on two floors.
Through the Treasures of Tutankhamun, a vast collection of gold artifacts and jewelry hidden in the desert sands for over 350 decades until the final discovery of the New Kingdom tomb in 1922.
The next destination is one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.
We will approach the mighty pyramids of Cheops, Chefren, Mykerinos, and finally see with our own eyes the Great Sphinx! This creature known from mythology is typically depicted as a lion with a human head.
Its origins date back to the times of the Egyptian Old Kingdom.
There are theories suggesting that the Sphinx resembles the builder of the structure – Khufu.
Alternatively, it is also believed that Pharaoh Djedefre – the elder half-brother of Khafre and second son of Khufu – built the Great Sphinx to honor his father’s memory.
